Lisa is a class act, a family lawyer within the renowned family law team at Withers, a top tier ranking law firm. Her story is inspiring because her path was far from smooth. Hers is not your typical route to success in the Law.
The only child of two prominent New York psychiatrists, raised with a strong ethos of self-reliance, she turned her back on family tradition & set out defiantly to be the world's greatest theatrical star. While waiting to be 'discovered' & ill equipped to do a 'proper' job, she turned her hand to selling advertising space for a tabloid newspaper. She hated every minute of it & soon realised she had to stop moaning & to take responsibility for her career. She decided to take the plunge & went for a career in law. Having said she'd do this, she just had to get on with it: failure was never an option. But qualifying was rather like undertaking the labours of Hercules. She failed exams, she passed exams; she had four children, (including twins) & passed still more exams. Relying on her good memory, she ingested large swathes of information while babies slept.
By the age of 35, she was still was drowning in babies, bored in mother & toddler coffee mornings while her fellow students were already fully fledged. She needed to become qualified & realised she was hardly an appealing candidate. As luck would have it, (& sometimes you need a little luck, she believes) the father of her son's best friend was a solicitor & after an interview of sorts, she joined the firm as a trainee. During that time, there is no doubt that her quality of life was poor. She survived on rotas, lists & favours peppered with liberal lashings of guilt. But qualify she did, just as she had set out to do.
She thrived, going from strength to strength, doing an outstanding job for each & every client. She became totally immersed in what needed to be done, building her reputation and expertise with each case, moving on & taking opportunities when they presented themselves over the years that followed.
She wanted to do something great for the swansong of her career. She wanted to stand on the shoulders of giants, & to know that she could make it within the magic circle of the very best firms. And so she selected Withers, and Withers selected her. In this setting, she simply wants to be doing an outstanding job, surrounded & stimulated by the brightest minds. Being in the right place motivates her, & she loves it.
